Casio Edifice Black Label Release NYC Event Coverage

Posted the 5th day of November in 2010 by Riley.

DougFNJ attended the Casio Edifice event in NYC last night. And he has full coverage of the new Black Label collection of watches over in a WUS forum post. It looks like Casio will be marketing the Edifice watches to men ages 25 to 35 in the US. If this new lineup is a success, there will be more models brought to the US market. We'll have to wait and see how they do here. These watches are a big hit in Japan, but they have never been available at North American watch retailers until now.

Maratac has released a new watch in their Pilot Automatic collection. This watch was commissioned and built by Maratac. The watch is sterile in every way. The dial is void of any signature or logo and no date complication.

The watch measures 46 mm in diameter and is 12.46 mm thick. The lug width is 22 mm. The case is carved out of a solid 316L stainless steel block. And the watch is fitted with a domed sapphire crystal.

The watch offers only basic time-telling capabilities. It is powered by the 21 jewelled Miyota 8245 automatic movement. This is a non-hacking movement. It has a power reserve of about 40 hours and can be hand wound.

New Casio PRO TREK Watches for November 2010

Posted the 1st day of November in 2010 by Riley.

Casio Japan has announced five new Casio Pro Trek watches for release in November. All of these are ABC models, with prices ranging from $334 to $1,170 USD. The new PRX-2000LB-1JF Manaslu watch is at the high end of the spectrum, probably due in part to the fact it comes on a Kevlar strap. Take a look and see if there's anything you like.

Cadence Wrist Rocket WT1 Watch Review

Posted the 30th day of October in 2010 by Riley.

The Wrist Rocket is a large digital watch with modern styling. The case measure in at 45mm, and it looks even bigger. It features a resin strap that's integrated into the plastic case. The design makes for a large wrist presence, and the light-weight materials make for a comfortable fit. The large dot-matrix LCD is the most prominent feature of this watch.

The Cadence Watch Company is based in Philadelphia, PA. They have released several models of watches over the last few years. Most are aimed at competitive rowers on crew teams. They feature counters that help keep track of the rowing pace. The Wrist Rocket is a departure from those types of watches though for this company.

Take a look at the video review to see everything the Wrist Rocket has to offer.

Tokyobay DIY Watch Set

Posted the 19th day of October in 2010 by TheHobbit.

Tokyobay has released a limited edition DIY (Do It Yourself) watch set. The set is expected to retail for $210 USD. It comes with four straps, 3 cloth/canvas type straps and one leather strap.

From the photograph shown below, the straps are fitted with the spring-bars. This makes swapping the strap easier as you do not have to swap the spring-bars.

The watch set comes with two watches, one in beige and the other in black. I believe the watch itself comes pre-assembled. The watch measures about 44mm across (including the crown). The movement is quartz, as the kit comes with replacement batteries.

Included with the kit are nine watchmakers tools. From what I can make out, there are three screw drivers, a pair of tweezers, a polishing cloth, a screw-back case opener, a snap-back case opener, a spring-bar remover and another tool. The tools come packed into a zippered carrying case.
