The YMHF0201 is a chronograph diver made by Yema Watch company. But before we get into the review, here's a bit of Yema history.
Henry Louis Belmont created Yema in Besancon, in 1948. Belmont envisioned superior timepieces with a worldwide presence. Belmont’s philosophy for horology remains the centerpiece of their line: to dream; to create; to enjoy and his vision for the superior watch experience has resulted in audacious French designs, with world-class reliability. It was also popular among the French military.
The Yema YMHF0201 Diver is a large watch. The stainless steel case comes in at 43 mm in diameter. It is a thick watch as well, measuring in at 16.2 mm. This however does not mean the watch in uncomfortable. In fact, it is pretty comfortable and well-balanced on the wrist.
The Yema YM62 quartz movement powers this watch. This 6-hands movement provides the watch with the following functions; hours, minutes, seconds (sub-dial), chronograph, alarm (6 o’clock position) and date complication (at 3 o’clock position).
The dial is black and very easy to read. The high quality lume shines nicely on this watch. The hands are filled with Super Luminova, as are the hour index markers. Even the chronograph hands are filled with Super Luminova. This makes reading the time and chronograph functions easy, even in total darkness.
The chronograph and alarm sub-dials are differentiated from the main dial by an engine-tuned silver finish. The date is displayed discretely at the 3 o’clock position.
Typical of a divers watch, the Yema YMHF0201 comes fitted with a unidirectional bezel. The bezel features a red 15-minute sector to make reading the dive time easier. The watch also features a very unique bezel locking system. When you tighten the crown, the locking mechanism will lock the bezel in place, thus preventing inadvertent movement of the bezel during a dive.
The watch comes on a stainless steel bracelet with a Safety Folding Buckle. This prevents the buckle from being unintentionally opened during diving. It also comes with an expansion section to extend the bracelet, thus allowing the watch to be worn over a diving suit.
Although the watch comes fitted with a mineral crystal, it is still tough enough for daily use and abuse. It is rated to 300M (30 ATM) and it is one tough watch.
The retail price for this watch is $625 USD. It can be purchased here in the Yema online store. You can use the coupon code watchshock25 for an extra discount.
Thanks to Yema Watches for providing the review unit.
